The 780-502 direct spark ignition control is designed as a direct replacement for Robertshaw 780 series intermittent pilot and direct ignition systems. It works with both standard and advanced flame sensing setups. When the thermostat calls for heat, the module provides a high-voltage spark to light the pilot or main burner. If a flame is not sensed within the allowed trial period, the module enters safety lockout to prevent unburned gas from accumulating. This specific module is a non-pre-purge unit, meaning it sparks immediately upon a call for heat without a delay blower cycle. It is universally applicable across a broad range of low-voltage (24 VAC) residential and light commercial gas systems, including gas-fired heating systems, commercial cooking equipment, water heating systems, and gas fireplaces. Built with durable housing for long-lasting performance, it is tested for durability with a high anti-interference margin and wide environmental tolerance.
